Spooky Historic Granite Quarry….

Kyle, Rob and I took a ride out to Becket yesterday in search of ghostly hauntings at an old quarry. We recently picked up this book at Borders by Thomas D’Agostino. Of course this quarry was explored by us because it was one of the haunted places mentioned in the book.

It was a long ride but a nice change of pace. There were quiet and almost deserted type of towns along route 20 out in Western MA. We found the road appropriately called “Quarry Road” and this road was a bit eerie. It was narrow and broken up with patches of tar here and there and it was also long and curvy. We were expecting more of a tourist type of entrance since it was opened to the public only two years ago.

The dirt lot was creepy with only one car parked there and there was a “for your safety” sign in sheet hanging up which was a bit strange. In case we don’t make it out of there??!!

The trails were pretty long and went deep into unmaintained forest. Many cool old rusty buildings, machinery and trucks could be seen. Steel rusty cables were everywhere hanging through trees and down to the quarry. Pretty cool.

It was spooky mainly because it was late in the afternoon and we seemed to be the only ones there. You definately could get a feel of how it was back in the early 1900’s…you could tell it used to be filled with many hard workers making a living.

There was a dark tunnel with old railroad tracks that headed into the tunnel and that was the spookiest site of all. For the main reason that you could not see at all in there….should have brought flashlights. We took several pics and in one of the photos, there is a strange small light spot that looks like it could be some kind of energy going on, maybe spirits?..
Below is the only photo that a flash was used/attempted in the tunnel and I see (when i brightened it up a bit) a skeletal figure to the right…do you see what i see??

Is this place haunted? Not from what we could tell but we did have the feeling that maybe someone was watching or listening to us. We are glad we got to see this place for it’s historic qualities though. We would have never known about it without the book we bought. We will be exploring more sites from this book soon.

Some photos we took can be seen HERE
